We currently have 4 Gluten Free beers in our core range.
Scaramanga 3.9% - Extra Pale Ale (Great Taste Awards 2 star winner)
Project Babylon 4.6% - American Pale Ale (Great Taste Awards 1 star winner)
Chummy Bluster 4.4% - Best Bitter ( Gold winner in the 2021 Free From Awards, Great Taste Awards 1 star 2021)
Numb Angel 4% - Lager ( Gold winner in the 2020 Free From Awards, Great Taste Awards 2 star winner 2022)
And we regularly brew small batch specials, some of which are GF too!
How do you make gluten free beer?
We start using exactly the same ingredients of barley, wheat and oats that make standard non-gluten free beers.
Making a couple of tweaks to the brewing process, allows the gluten in the beer to be broken down to the point where it is well below 20ppm - the threshold for being considered Gluten Free.
The beer tastes no different - it's just free of gluten.
Can Coeliacs drink your beers?
They can.
Before packaging, all gyles (batches of beer) are tested using an R5 Gluten Flow through test to ensure they are indeed GF. This in turn is supported by regular lab-based validation tests using the R5 Competitive ELISA method.
Food allergies make life extremely difficult for those living with them. If beer is about anything, it's about pleasure and making our beer gluten free, allows that pleasure to be experienced by as many people as possible. Coeliacs included.
